Intel had previously announced its intention to move away from the Core i brand months ago. However, it has now come to light that some of the new models will be named Core Ultra instead of Intel Core i. During the Innovation 2023 event held by the company today, Intel Core Ultra was introduced. Here are the details!
Intel Core Ultra will be available on December 14th!
As part of Intel’s new naming strategy, Core Ultra was unveiled during today’s event. It was revealed during the event that Intel Core Ultra will be released on December 14th. These chips will be the first to feature a built-in NPU. Moreover, Core Ultra represents one of the most significant steps for Intel, showcasing their latest innovations.
The processor is notable for its entirely new P and E cores and its power efficiency. Additionally, the new processor will deliver graphics performance that is twice as fast when measured in terms of performance per watt.
Moreover, the processor, while supporting the NPU, will also utilize its GPU and CPU for other artificial intelligence functions. Another noteworthy aspect of the processor is that it does not support Intel’s recently announced Thunderbolt 5 standard.
Instead, the new processor will include Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen5. Intel is also focusing on strengthening its Meteor Lake processors with 3D Foveros packaging, aiming to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities. Furthermore, with Core Ultra, Intel is poised to usher in the era of AI-powered computing.
The new processor is expected to make significant advancements in power efficiency performance thanks to the NPU and Intel’s 4-process technology. Additionally, it offers exceptional graphics performance with its integrated Intel Arc graphics card. Jerry Kao, Chief Operating Officer of Acer, provided a preview of an Acer laptop powered by Core Ultra.
